| 2002 Aug. | Unincorporated association (RIES’s predecessor) is established.

| 2004 Dec. | Research Institute for Environmental Strategies, Inc. (RIES) is established in Kotobukicho Fuchu-city, Tokyo, with a capital of 6 million yen. |
| 2007 Apr. | Capital is increased to 10 million yen. |
| 2007 Jul. | Office is relocated to Miyamachi Fuchu-city, Tokyo. |
| 2008 Sep. | Capital is increased to 20 million yen. |
| 2009 Sep. | Capital is increased to 30 million yen. |
| 2010 Dec. | RIES obtains the Privacy Mark certification. |
| 2011 Jul. | RIES obtains the Eco-Action 21 certification. |
| 2012 Dec. | RIES changes its fiscal year-end from November to May. |
| 2014 Nov. | RIES sets up a Board of Directors and an Accounting Advisor. |
| 2015 Feb. | RIES starts photovoltaic generation and selling the electricity. |
| 2017 May. | RIES starts wind power generation and selling the electricity. |
